Our Astronomical observatory is
a part of the Youth Center – Haskovo. It is a municipal structure
established in 2000. It is an adherent of former organization with similar
functions.
The
main purpose of Youth Center is the socialization of children
and young people through free time activities.
There
are 3 sectors of specialization in the Youth Center: Youth activities and programs,
Outside of class activities and sport Center.
The first Youth activities and
programs provides learning in Civil Education trough
teaching with interactive methods of work with teachers and students and Youth
Municipal Council. Also there are programs for tolerance, confronting
discrimination and intercultural partnership together with the “Open Education”
Center.
The
second Outside of class activities provides courses in two areas: science and
art; such as astronomy, ethnographic, studio Theatre, Children’s Choir “Orfey”, children’s Folk dance Ensemble “Yuzhnyache”
, Modern Ballet, 3 Rock Groups and Sport Dances Club. The children and young peoples participating
in these activities frequently make performances, win awards and take part in
many competitions. Youth Center even organizes such contest, for
example the National Festival of Chamber Dance in May 2005.
The
last put not least is the Sport Center. It organizes groups for training
of: football light athletics, basketball, volley ball, body building, judo,
swimming, wrestling and tourism. The teachers organize tournaments and
competition in these sports and meetings with famous athletes. From time to
time the Sport Center even take
part in organizing sport holydays in high schools and kindergartens.
As
people from the age of 5 to 25 take part in the activities of Youth Center,
it’s essential function is to give them knowledge, skills and self-confidence,
with will make them more responsible, thoughtful and happy persons.
